About the product

This Look consists of a classical jacket that can be worn by a mannequin with three heads. It has three necklines with lapel collar, flap pockets and a welt pocket.The length and width of the sleeves is exaggerated. The pants are made of two layers. The shell fabric is larger than the lining. To create volume the shell fabric gets ruffled in various locations and sewn onto the lining.

Production

The production was made by Good Garment Collective, a production agency for apparel in Berlin, which stands for sustainable and transparent production processes.

Sustainability Statement

All three outfits have been designed collaboratively using digital tools for pattern making and sampling, along with consideration of sustainable strategies in the development process. All garments in this collection have been produced using certified sustainable materials. As part of their circularity strategy, each outfit is based on a reduced amount of materials that are easy to disassemble and compatible for recycling together. The modularity of outfits allows for more versatile use and extended product life. If they were commercially available, customers could purchase individual garments and combine them with other items from their wardrobes. This approach makes it easy to maintain and replace a single part, instead of discarding the entire outfit. No physical samples were created prior to these pieces' shows. These three outfits could be considered samples on which different digital tools and techniques were tested, and on a larger production scale, we would be able to significantly reduce amounts of textile waste in production and sampling, along with flexibility for size adjustments. Product passport such as the one provided by circularity.ID is another tool we tested and wanted to introduce to visitors of the exhibition, despite the fact not all information was available for exhibition pieces.

VORN - The Berlin Fashion Hub - Cohort 22

VORN – The Berlin Fashion Hub is the physical and digital space for positive change in the fashion industry. In our hub, our community works with and for each other on innovations and sustainable developments. We create, communicate, learn and teach collaboratively and VORN takes on the role of the curator, matchmaker and advisor, providing a pre-competitive environment in a highly competitive fashion and textile industry. The pilot of the VORN Academy program gathered 9 international creatives with backgrounds varying from traditional and digital fashion, upcycling to digital product design, creative direction and filmmaking, aiming to create a capsule collection within only 8 weeks by exploring and applying concepts of circularity, sustainability, social responsibility, non-competitive collaboration and smart digital solutions.

The use of the circularity.ID for the VORN Academy product is for transparency and communication reasons. The products are not connected to end-of-life solutions, and not assessed for circularity.
